Las Pedreras, Los Arroyelos 2023

Las Pedreras is a small, organic-farmed winery based in the Sierra de Gredos (village of Villanueva de Ávila and surrounding hamlets). The project is led by a duo, a winemaker and a chef, reviving old dry-farmed Garnacha vines on granite-sandy soils at high altitude, with sustainable viticulture, native fermentations and minimal intervention in the cellar. 100% Garnacha from old vines, organically cultivated at 900–1,170m altitude; fermented with native yeasts, some parcels with partial whole-cluster, then matured about 8 months in used French oak and stainless steel before bottling. The nose offers wild berry, red cherry, forest-floor herbs and a touch of spicy-earthiness. On the palate it is juicy and lively; red cherry and plum mingle with a mineral seam, fine but present tannins and bright acidity, finishing fresh and slightly savoury. A versatile, organic, Mediterranean red.
